Hello Eagles! Below is the schedule for the week of March 27 - 31, upcoming events at Estancia High School, and important information for students and families.

Upcoming Events

 

Estancia High School will continue administering the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) to English Learners through April 3. Students will be pulled out of their classes to take the annual assessment which measures their  progress towards fluency in the English language.

 

Estancia High School is excited to welcome the class of 2027 from TeWinkle Middle School on Tuesday, March 28.  Students in Grade 8 at TeWinkle will visit the high school during the school day as part of a move-up experience.  ASB and Link Crew will be hosting a pep rally for the 8th grade students and will lead campus tours.  

 

Estancia High School will be celebrating MORP spirit days on Thursday, March 30 and Friday, March 31.  The theme for Thursday, March 30 is denim on denim.  The theme for Friday, March 31 is Cowboys vs. Cowgirls.  

 

Estancia will be on a pep assembly bell schedule on Friday, March 31 for our spring assembly.  The bell schedule is as follows:

Estancia High School’s MORP Dance will be on Friday, March 31  What’s MORP?  MORP is PROM spelled backwards - it’s a fun casual dance with a theme that all students can attend. The theme is “Noche de Rodeo" and students are encouraged to wear western/country clothing. students can attend.  The theme is “Noche de Rodeo” and students are encouraged to wear country western clothing.  Tickets will be on sale March 20-March 31 through the Student Store.  The price is $15 per person from March 20-24.  The price will be $20 per person March 27-31.  

 

The Lyceum Academy has opened the 2023 application for academically motivated 8th graders and qualified 9th graders.  All students should have excellent grades and score at grade level or above for reading.  9th graders must also be currently enrolled in AP Human Geography to be considered as eligible. Application window closes on March 31st, and in person interviews will be held the first week of April. Please visit the Lyceum Academy website for the application and more information. 

 

Seniors....Save the date for Estancia Grad Nite at Universal Studios Hollywood on Friday, June 2!  The Estancia PTSA is excited to announce that tickets for Grad Nite will are on sale Grad Nite at Universal includes entertainment all throughout the park.

  • Exclusive after-hours event.  Shorter lines for more fun!  

  • Heart-pounding rides and attractions, Studio Tour, Harry Potter, Jurassic World and the new Super Nintendo World!

  • Special graduation-themed photo ops throughout the Park.

  • Dances parties hosted by DJs.

Tickets will be $125 per person.  Tickets will be on sale until April 21 at school.  No late payments will be accepted.  Ticket costs include transportation and admission to the park.  All graduating seniors participating must ride the bus to and from the event.  All graduating seniors must complete and return a permission slip with payment.  Complete details including rules and restrictions will be included with the permission slip.  Parents interested in chaperoning, please contact the Estancia PTSA at estanciahighschoolptsa@gmail.com.


Estancia High School Cheer Tryouts are coming up!  Are you interested in being a part of the 2023-2024 EHS Cheer Squad?  If so, please see the flyer attached with information about cheer clinics, a parent information meeting, and tryout date.  

 

Estancia High School will be having a fire and evacuation drill on Tuesday, April 4.  Estancia Tutorial-Advisory Program classes will not be meeting that day.  After break students will report directly to Period 4.  

 

There will be a Student of the Quarter Recognition for the students nominated by their teachers for their performance during the 3rd quarter of the school year on Thursday, April 6 at 10:10 a.m. in the theater.  Families of students who will be recognized are invited to attend the event. 

 

The current student parking lot at Estancia High School will close on Saturday, April 8 and be relocated as preliminary construction of the new theater is scheduled to begin.  Students who have been issued an EHS parking permit are to park in the new designated student parking lot.  Parents/Guardians are asked to drop off and pick up their students in the parking lot near the senior lawn to prevent congestion in the entrance/exit to the new student parking lot.  Please see the attached flyers for images of the new parking lot designations and visit the Construction Projects Webpage for additional information regarding the construction of the theater. 

 

School will not be in session April 10-14 due to Spring Recess. 

 

Important Information

 

Student Meals:  Free breakfast and lunch is provided to all students.  

 

Schoology: Newport-Mesa Unified School District utilizes Schoology as our grading platform.  Student accounts were created automatically based on their class schedule. Parent accounts, if your contact and portal account information match, are created automatically using the parent contact email address in Aeries. 

 

Parent Portal: Families can access the Aeries Parent Portal throughout the year to update contact information, view student progress reports, report cards and student state tests reports.  If families have not completed the Mandatory Online Registration please login to the Aeries Parent Portal. Please follow directions to set up your Aeries Parent Portal account, if you do not already have one.  Elementary schools use this for registration, so if you already have one set up, you can add additional students to the same account.  We have also created a screencast to view how to set up an Aeries Parent Portal.  Please note that parents will need an email address to create an account. You can create an email address with any provider, click here for instructions to create a Gmail email. 

 

OCTA Youth Bus Pass:  The Youth Ride Free program has been extended by OCTA. The OCTA has issued new orange passes that will be good through September 2023. To request a pass, please complete a Parental Request Form (see attachment or click here) and provide the completed form to the main office to receive the free pass.

 

SchooLinks: The college and career readiness platform, SchooLinks, helps students discover their interests and strengths, explore colleges and careers, and create an individualized career and academic plan that best reflects their post-secondary goals.  SchooLinks is available to students in 7- 12 grade and their parents. Students will login to SchooLinks by clicking on the SchooLinks logo on their ClassLink Launchpad. Paper: Paper is an academic support system that provides students with unlimited access to a variety of tutoring services, such as one-on-one tutoring and essay review, through a secure online platform.  Students will login to Paper by clicking on the Paper logo on their ClassLink Launchpad. Tardy = Detention: Students who arrive late to school in the morning or arrive late to any class must report to the Attendance Office windows to check in and get a tardy slip.  Anyone who is tardy will be required to serve detention after school that day for 25 minutes.  Campus Safety and school administrators will be picking up students for detention.  

 

Parking Permits:  Students need a parking permit to park on campus.  Click here to apply for a parking permit.  Please note that a copy of the student’s driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance is required for a parking permit to be issued.  Students can only park in the student parking lot.  The student parking lot is located between the Main Gym and tennis courts.  The speed limit in all parking lots on campus is 10 mph.

 

Off-Campus Lunch:  Students in Grades 11 and 12 are allowed to leave campus for lunch with the permission of a parent/guardian.  The off-campus lunch privilege is valid as long as the student's attendance, grades, and citizenship marks are satisfactory. Students who fail to meet these expectations may have their pass revoked. It is expected that students with off-campus lunch pass permission will report promptly to class immediately following lunch, follow the bell schedule of the day, and comply with all applicable school and NMUSD rules.  Parents/Guardians who would like to give permission for their 11th or 12th grade student to leave campus at lunch should click here to request an off-campus lunch pass.  

 

COVID-19 Protocols:  Face masks are not required for students or staff however students and staff are welcome to wear masks for their personal protection.  Students and staff members are to stay at home when sick.  Parents and guardians should contact the Attendance Office at (949) 515-6505 to report that their student is ill. 

 

Reminder: No food deliveries or parent drop-offs are allowed. Please make sure students come to school ready and with all the materials, instruments, cell phones, or water they may need throughout the day. Campus staff will not accept any items to be held at the front office.

SOY:  Save our Youth (SOY) is open for registration and information this week Mon-Thurs, 4-8pm and Friday 3-6pm. You can register online or in person. Sign up for music, art, dance, soccer and fitness classes and receive tutoring and college application assistance at the SOY Center this week.
